Sunshine Tour - Kenya Open

Hello everyone,

Hope this finds you well and you have had a good weekend. After lasts week superb performance, this week I was in Kenya playing on the Sunshine Tour.

It was a very quick turn around after a Pro Am in London on Saturday, a quick layover in Abu Dhabi to see Lauren and then onto Nairobi, arriving at the hotel early evening on the Monday. I will be honest after traveling, I arrived absolutely whooped and not feeling too great and seemed to pick up something on my travels. As there was a Pro Am on the Wednesday where no play was allowed, I played a very tired and weary practice round on the Tuesday. After a day of practice and recovery on Wednesday I was still not feeling great and that showed in my first round performance. A very strange Birdie-less round of 77(+5) and a mountain to climb to make the cut. After a good night sleep, I did feel better on the Friday and posted a solid 68(-4) to miss the cut by 1!

I will be honest, I’m not too happy about this week and feeling like crap leading up to the tournament didn’t help the situation. The poor practice round on Tuesday was the downfall, as the game plan for the week was not really set in place and a far too conservative approach was taken and not executed. I did play much better on Day two and will take the positives from that but definitely a bit of a downer after such a great performance last week that I wanted to build on.

Think my scheduling might have to change slightly, as getting to old for traveling half way around the world for 1 event but you live and learn. Have a few days now in Abu Dhabi with Lauren, before both of us return to the UK and escape the heat for the summer which I’m very much looking forward too.

Have a great week and look forward to seeing some of you over the summer months

Best regards Luke
