Golf 2021…
28 November 2021
The Summer season draws to an end…
Sorry it’s been a while since my last blog, not really been in the right mindset to put quill to ink recently. This summer has been disappointing to say the least on the golf course and quite a bit has happened this summer away from the course. I will be honest my golf has not quite lived up to my own high expectations and it’s been rather beige and altogether frustrating in places. I have wanted to stay positive this season but rewriting the same blog each week was not something that was doing me much good so accept my apologies for not maintaining it on a regular basis this season.
I think the word “Beige” is a rather fitting word for my golf this year. Not offensive in any way but also not massively exciting. My scoring range this summer has been 63-75 with a whole host of rounds from 68-71! Not bad numbers in the whole scheme of things but also not exciting enough to get any wins that was very much in the goals at the start of the summer when I crossed over from the sandpit.
This season has finished for me and as I write this I’m currently sat waiting to board a flight back to Abu Dhabi. This past week I have played my first week of pain free golf for 4 months which has been great, and far more enjoyable! I managed to win a Pro Am in Dubai and finish 5th in Bahrain, trying to defend my King Hamed Trophy. It was a nice way to finish the year and not have to take 4-6 painkillers to play a round of golf. The back is getting stronger week by week and currently seeing a rehab specialist in Dubai, so fingers crossed it’s the start of pain free golf again.
Very much looking forward to getting home to see Lauren, If you didn’t know we are expecting our first child at the end of January and very much looking forward to the new addition to the Joy family! I’m sure “Baby Zeus” will be just as loopy as me and Lauren, fingers crossed he doesn’t have my hair line.
Looking forward to having a proper debrief with my coach and put a solid training plan in place to be firing properly when the events kick off in the New year, so will keep you guys posted how it all goes!
Until then, Wish all of you guys a good rest of the year and fantastic Christmas with friends and family. Thank you to everyone that has been and continues to be part of the journey! It’s never a dull moment in the world of sport but with your support in the dark times is very much appreciated. Was amazing to see so many friendly faces this summer back in the UK and look forward to being back with the little one next year.
Take care, stay safe Cheers Luke
