MENA Tour - Jordan

Back in the sand pit…

It’s been a while right? Hope you haven’t missed me too much! My time in the UK has come to an end and to say the summer has been a difficult one would be an understatement!

I haven’t posted on here for a long time and to be honest with you since my win back in June I have not made a cut or come close to playing anything that resembles good golf and had no desire to really post about it as I have been a bit all over the place. Unfortunately some “off” course things have really affected me this summer in ways that I never thought possible. The golf course turned into a very lonely and miserable place to be with my thoughts and apprehensions elsewhere and was very strange for me to accept as it was normally a place of great solace.

I returned back to Abu Dhabi last week and it has been great to get back and see Loz and start to return back to my normal self. In the week off, I managed to see my golf coach, Bolty in Dubai and has been great to have his input and encouragement to get me back to playing and wanting to be out on the course again.

This week I have been in Jordan playing on the MENA Tour and going into the week I was not feeling all that great about my game, probably more of a confidence issue than a technical one based off the poor run of form of the last few months. The week started off poorly but slowly progressed nicely and saw signs of some good things that myself and Bolty had been working on in Dubai the previous week.

I opened the week with a shocking +5 and really put myself up against it. I didn’t make a birdie in the opening round but in rounds two and three, I seemed to play myself into some form, putted nicely and managed to post rounds of -2 and -3 to get back to level par for the tournament and finish in the Top 20!

After what has seemed like an eternity since I shot consecutive under par rounds, it was great to battle back after a tough start and even tougher summer. I Wanted to thank the team at Ayla golf Club and the MENA Tour for a fun event and looking forward to playing next week at my home club, Yas Links. Hopefully I can continue to improve and build on the last two rounds of this week.

Will finally get back to posting on a regular basis over the next few weeks as I have a run of events in the Middle East and Spain in the coming weeks.

Hope you have all had a good summer and fingers crossed I can start to play a little better and get back to winning was soon!

All the best and see you soon
