Good, solid, Bad!
This was pretty much my assessment of this weeks event in Spain for the EuroPro Tour champs.
I started the week needing a win or possibly second place finish (if a few results went my way) to secure my Challenge Tour card for next year but unfortunately was not to be. My main goal at the start of the week was to get into contention and then see what I could rustle up on the final day. Rounds 1 and 2 were very solid and with scores of 68,69, I was two shots back of the lead going into the final round. I started off well with a birdie on the second but a triple bogey from nowhere on the 5th hole proved for a tough rest of the afternoon. Everything I seemed to do ended in trouble and while pushing for a score more errors followed and signed for a frustrating 77 +5 to drop back to Tied 19th for the event.
To say this week and year has been frustrating would be an understatement, moments of pure golfing pleasure mixed in with utter bemusement at times. Golf is a funny old game, lots of highs, probably more lows and a shed load of in between.
I’m currently sat on the plane heading back to Abu Dhabi and after a 6 hour drive and no sleep I’m still in a fairly jovial mood about my game. Im not so jovial about the flight being full and the bloke beside me playing musical chairs with himself, think he must have a weaker bladder than Lauren. That aside, Really happy with the work I have done with Bolty up in Dubai and my game is trending in a good way, just don’t seem to be posting the consecutive numbers that reflect a positive outcome, but it will come.
Anyway, shit happens and looking forward to getting back to AD for a few days off before two weeks practice and then head off to Jordan for the Mena Tour champs followed by the Bahrain Open, so hoping for a positive end to the year.
Hope you all have a great weekend and let’s hope by the time I land, England will be crowned Rugby World Cup winners…
Time for a beer…
